Voila!

As I continue to study French (oh, did I not mention how I have been blowing on those old embers?) I continually find that as competently as I can read the language now, I still have trouble recalling words well enough to speak in more than one or two sentences at a time. Today, I did my best to plumb my word bank and write a poem using no reference--only words and phrases I could remember.

Now, not only is this my first poem in the French language, but it is the first poem of any sort I have written in probably a few years, that I recall. I will let you be the judge of its quality. Behold,

"Au-dessus de Toutes Choses"

by John Milton

le coeur, mon coeur
Comme la nuit, ce soir
Petite, mal, et noir
Je suis vivante,
Rien ne le dit
Mais, Je le sais
Le coeur, mon coeur
C’est un faux amis
